1. Program
OrganAlert text messages are transactional texts sent by registered OrganAlert users (transplant surgeons, coordinators, and clinical staff at subscribing hospitals). A text goes out only when a user chooses to send one; there are no automatic alerts, and this program does not send marketing messages.
2. What we send
Shared dashboard links: when a user shares a donor or recipient dashboard, they can text a secure link to it. The text says a secure dashboard was shared with you and links to it. Opening the link shows a HIPAA agreement, and the dashboard appears only after you accept it. A user can text this link to a colleague's verified number or to any US mobile number they enter, including the number of someone without an OrganAlert account. The user who sends it is responsible for who receives it and the information shared.
Verification codes: a one-time code, sent when you add or change your mobile number, that confirms the number is yours.
Texts never include patient information or patient identifiers, only a link or a code. Texts go only to US mobile numbers.
3. How you start receiving texts
Registered OrganAlert users: sign in, open Settings → Text messages, enter your US mobile number, check the consent box, and enter the code we text you. Colleagues can then pick you in the Share dialog without typing your number. Consent is not a condition of purchasing or using OrganAlert.
Anyone else: you may receive a shared dashboard link because an OrganAlert user entered your number. No sign-up is required to receive it, and you can stop any further texts by replying STOP. If you did not expect the text, do not open the link.
4. Message frequency and charges
Message frequency varies with clinical activity. Message and data rates may apply. Your carrier's plan determines any charge.
5. Opt out and help
Reply STOP to any OrganAlert text to opt out at any time. We may send one confirmation. Account holders can also turn texts off in Settings → Text messages. After you reply STOP, no one can text your number through OrganAlert until you reply START; account holders also turn texts back on in Settings with a new verification code.
Reply HELP for help, or email viraj@organalert.com. Do not include clinical information. If your mobile number changes or you lose control of it, turn texts off or add the new number in Settings.
6. Delivery and clinical limitations
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed; a provider's acceptance of a send request does not establish receipt or review. A text is not an emergency service, a clinical escalation system, or a substitute for your organization's established communication and decision-making processes. Never rely on a text for time-critical care.
7. Privacy and changes
Mobile numbers are handled under the SMS Privacy Policy and Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing. We may update these terms with notice; a change to what we text requires new consent. The customer's executed agreement and BAA continue to govern clinical data.
